Focus on the majors, not the minors. When it comes to nutrition, don’t miss the forest for the trees.

If you are feeling bogged down by all of the nutrition information out there and are finding yourself fearful of seed oils, GMOs, heavy metals, toxins, and pesticides in our food, I feel you. There is so much fear mongering out there when it comes to nutrition and wellness and it’s easy to miss the forest for the trees.
Focus on the majors, not the minors.
Rather than focusing on whether a food is organic or seed oil-free, let’s think about this very simply and whether or not this food is REAL food.
Ask yourself a couple questions:
1. Does this food have a mother? Chicken, turkey, eggs, and fish. Even if the fish is farm-raised, it’s still a good source of protein.
2. Does this food grow in the ground (or on trees)? Think colorful fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Even if they’re not organic, they are still rich in disease-fighting compounds.
Let’s re-frame the scarcity mentality of food with an abundance mentality. There are so many REAL and WHOLE foods out there that will fuel you.
If you eat nutrient-dense foods like colorful vegetables and fruits, lean proteins, healthy fats, and whole grains, your cells will have everything they need to keep you happy, healthy, and thriving. And if you occasionally eat some processed food, be kind to yourself and check guilt at the door. You don’t need to be perfect. Progress not perfection!
