About Us

Meet Our Doctors

Our team at Lakeside Natural Medicine includes experienced doctors dedicated to helping you achieve optimal health. Led by founder Dr. Sarah Axtell, ND, our naturopathic doctors and nurse practitioners bring decades of combined experience in addressing chronic conditions such as hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, autoimmune diseases, and gastrointestinal issues. Each doctor takes an individualized, root-cause approach to care, blending evidence-based natural therapies with compassionate support.

Whether you're working with one of our naturopathic doctors or functional medicine nurse practitioners, you'll receive personalized attention focused on uncovering the underlying causes of your health concerns and empowering you to take charge of your wellness journey.
  • Dr. Joanne Aponte, ND

As a Naturopathic Doctor, I work with women, children, and families to help you improve your health from the inside out. My practice specialties include women's health and hormones, digestive disorders, preconception and postpartum wellness, and children's health. I use specialized functional medicine testing to uncover the unique underlying causes of your symptoms, then we'll create a plan that puts natural therapies like nutrition, herbs, vitamins, and mind-body practices at the forefront. I want you to feel empowered, supported, and at ease with your health so that you can focus on what matters most.

  • Dr. Katarina Meister, ND

As a Naturopathic Doctor (ND), my clinical practice focuses on chronic conditions such as hormone imbalances, gastrointestinal conditions, weight loss resistance, hypothyroidism, acne, female hair loss, chronic fatigue, and autoimmune disorders. I manage each patient with an individualized, evidenced-based, and holistic approach that may include lifestyle changes, functional lab analyses, botanical medicine, homeopathic medicine, and nutritional therapies.

  • Dr. Sarah Axtell, ND

As a Naturopathic Doctor, I help people who are facing many different chronic health issues, such as hormonal imbalances, perimenopause & menopause, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, gastrointestinal disorders, and weight loss resistance. I believe strongly in addressing you as an individual, not just your symptoms. I address the root cause of your health issue by utilizing evidence-based, natural approaches including functional lab analysis, clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, and lifestyle counseling. My passion is food as medicine.

  • Dr. Mackenzie Prentice, DNP

As a Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner (DNP), I’ve had the opportunity to work and train in both the conventional medicine setting and also in integrative medicine. Although my passion is in integrative medicine, my experience in the conventional medicine world has given me a unique skill set to use an all-inclusive approach to identify the root cause of your chronic condition or symptoms. We can work together to develop a personalized plan with evidence-based tools and resources. My purpose is to assist you in becoming confident in having agency over your own health.

  • Dr. Erica Linn, DNP

As a Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in integrative and functional medicine, with nearly a decade of experience helping patients navigate complex and chronic health concerns. My clinical focus includes hormonal imbalances, gastrointestinal disorders, thyroid disease, autoimmune conditions, and mood disorders. I take an evidence-informed approach to whole-person care, partnering with each patient to understand the root causes of their symptoms rather than simply managing them.

  • Lindsay Huffman, APNP

As a Nurse Practitioner, I work with patients on hormone balance, weight management, menopause and perimenopause, digestive issues, treatment of autoimmune conditions, and overall wellness. I am a strong advocate for patient-centered care and believe that lasting wellness comes from addressing the interconnected relationship between the mind and body. My goal is to help patients feel their best, improve their quality of life, and support lifelong health.
