Are you having a normal period? Here is how to tell

Normal Period:
- Regular periods every 25-32 days
- 3-7 days of bleeding
- Minimal PMS symptoms
- Skipping a period here and there
- A period that starts a few days late or a few days early after acute illness or high stress
- Mild menstrual cramps that do not interfere with your day and are relieved with 1-2 doses of pain medication
- Needing to change your pad or tampon at least 3-4 times per day.
Not Normal Period:
- Cycle shorter than 25 days
- Cycle longer than 32 days
- Bleeding for more than 7 days
- Bleeding for fewer than 3 days
- Skipping periods more than occasionally
- Bleeding in-between periods
- Spotting before your period starts
- PMS symptoms that interfere with your day, relationships and ability to live your life
- Pain with a period that interferes with your day and is not relieved by 1-2 doses of pain medication
- Heavy bleeding – needing to change your pad or tampon every 1-2 hours.
- Very light bleeding – only needing a panty liner on your heaviest days.
