Help Naturopathic Doctors get recognized in Wisconsin!
ByJoanne Aponte, ND •January 1, 2020
Wisconsin ND’s are on the verge of gaining licensure in Wisconsin. Help us make this happen!!
NOW is the time to call your legislators and urge them to support bill LRB 5620 to license naturopathic doctors.

Why do ND’s need to be licensed? Licensure will be a critical step so that Naturopathic Doctors can help serve patients better. Your naturopathic doctor needs to be licensed to be able to do the following things. Right now we can’t do any of these! We must first be licensed.
(1) Serve as your primary care doctor
(2) prescribe medication when you need it
(3) bill labs to your insurance to reduce your out of pocket costs
(4) put in a referral to a specialist when you need it
(5) Insurance companies and health savings plans are unlikely to reimburse you for the cost of an appointment until NDs are licensed.
As licensed practitioners, we will be able to better communicate and collaborate with your medical doctors. Licensure will also legitimize the title “Naturopathic Doctor”. Right now anyone (with or without training) can call themselves a naturopathic doctor
Thank for your willingness to support Wisconsin NDs. This call will be the first step in a long process. There will be many opportunities to support licensure for NDs in upcoming 2 years.
