Dr. Joanne Aponte, ND
As a naturopathic doctor, I work with women, children, and families to help you improve your health from the inside out. My practice specialties include women’s health and hormones, digestive disorders, preconception and postpartum wellness, and children’s health. I use specialized functional medicine testing to uncover the unique underlying causes of your symptoms, then we’ll create a plan that puts natural therapies—like nutrition, herbs, vitamins, and mind-body practices—at the forefront. I want you to feel empowered, supported, and at ease with your health—so you can focus on what matters most.
Approach:
My integrative, whole-person approach combines herbal medicine, vitamin therapy, nutrition and lifestyle
counseling and mind-body medicine to help you build resilience and achieve long-term vitality. I take the
time to truly listen and understand your health story—because you’re the expert on your own body.
Through detailed health histories and specialized functional medicine testing, we’ll go beyond treating
symptoms and investigate the “why” behind your health concerns.
My Practice Specialties:
- Digestive Disorders –IBS, constipation, bloating, SIBO, acid reflux, IBD
- Women’s Health and Hormones – menstrual cycle concerns, PMS, PMDD, PCOS,
- Perimenopause and menopause
- Preconception, Fertility and Pregnancy Preparation
- Postpartum Recovery
- Children’s Health – eczema, digestive concerns, ADHD, asthma, immune health and overall wellness
- Fatigue
- Difficult Focus and Foggy Thinking
- Stress and Overwhelm
- Low Mood and Motivation
- Healthy Aging & Prevention – cognitive and brain health, metabolic wellness, diabetes prevention
I believe in thoughtfully integrating evidence-based natural treatments with conventional medical care,
and will collaborate with other healthcare providers when necessary, with your best interest always at
the center.
I’m particularly passionate about mind-body medicine and helping patients balance their nervous
systems. A body under chronic stress doesn’t heal well. When your nervous system is balanced, your
body becomes more capable of addressing its own imbalances—often requiring fewer supplements and
less intervention.
Background:
I graduated with honors from Southwest University of Naturopathic Medicine (now Sonoran University)
and have been practicing for over 15 years. I maintain my naturopathic license in Wisconsin and am
committed to advancing my clinical expertise through regular continuing education in women’s hormones,
digestive disorders, and children’s health. I have completed specialized training in digestive disorders with
gastroenterology specialist Megan Taylor, ND, and continue to participate in her mentorship group, where
we collaborate on complex patient cases.
I am an active member of the Wisconsin Naturopathic Doctors Association, the National Association of
Environmental Medicine, and the Gastroenterology Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
I’m a mother of two daughters (and one dog). In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with family and
friends, being outdoors in nature, and working in my garden.
