Green Beans with Citrus-Sesame Sauce

As Thanksgiving is approaching, you might consider serving this in place of the traditional (and not so healthy!) green bean casserole. This side dish takes 10 minutes max. The Citrus-Sesame Sauce is good on any veggies, but I particularly like it on green beans. You could try the Citrus-Sesame Sauce on baked fish or chicken. Or as a creamy salad dressing. I made these green beans for my girls, Cece and Lulu, tonight and they devoured it. Kid-approved!

Green Beans with Citrus-Sesame Sauce

Ingredients

2 tsps sesame oil

1 pound of green beans

1/4 cup Citrus-Sesame Sauce (see below)

1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

1. Heat the sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

2. Add the beans and saute for 2 minutes.

3. Add 1 tbsp water and cook for another 4-5 minutes (until beans are tender). Remove from heat.

4. Add 1/4 cup Citrus-Sesame Sauce (see below) and toss to coat.

5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

This will make more than needed for the above recipe. Keep it stored in a glass jar and use as a salad dressing or as a marinade for fish or chicken.

Ingredients

1/2 cup tahini (available in the peanut butter aisle at your natural health food store)

1/3 cup lemon juice

2 tbsp tamari (gluten-free soy sauce), Bragg’s Liquid Aminos or Coconut Aminos

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp grated fresh ginger

1 tbsp maple syrup

2 tsps sesame seeds

1 tsp salt

Instructions

1. Whisk all of the ingredients together in a bowl.
