Superfood Red Velvet Smoothie

This smoothie combines so many superfoods: beets, avocados, flax, and cacao. Beets and beet greens support liver detoxification and are an excellent source of antioxidants (thanks to the deep pigments). Beets contain betaine, which helps the liver cells clear toxins.

In addition to promoting liver detoxification, this smoothie also boosts the mood. Both beets and avocados raise dopamine, our neurotransmitter responsible for pleasure, motivation, and attention.

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces unsweetened almond milk
  • ½-1 raw beet
  • ½ cup beet greens (stems removed)
  • 1/4 avocado
  • 1/4 cup frozen cherries
  • 1 TBSP ground flaxseeds
  • 1 TBSP cacao powder
  • 1 scoop plant-based protein powder

Instructions:

Place all ingredients in a blender, and blend on high until smooth.
