Food is Medicine: Our Teaching Kitchen at Lakeside

ByLakeside ND September 8, 2020

At Lakeside, we believe food isn’t just fuel—it’s medicine. And cooking is a way to connect, learn, and heal together. That’s why we created our Food is Medicine Teaching Kitchen, a space designed to bring people together to explore how nourishing meals can transform health.

Food has the power to do so much more than satisfy hunger. It sends signals to our cells, influences gene expression, balances hormones, and even shapes our immune system. It can either contribute to illness or be one of the most powerful tools for healing.

But knowing what to eat and actually making it happen are two different things. Many people want to eat healthier but struggle with where to start or how to stay consistent. Often, what’s missing is community—a support system that makes healthy habits easier and more enjoyable.

In the world’s Blue Zones (regions known for longevity), strong social connections are a key factor in living longer, healthier lives. That’s what we’re creating at Lakeside. Through our nutrition workshops, we provide both knowledge and a sense of belonging—whether in-person or virtually—so you can feel supported on your wellness journey.

So far, we’ve hosted over 30 workshops, covering topics like gut health, hormone balance, and the secrets of Blue Zone living. Each session includes:
✔️ A presentation from the doctor
✔️ Live cooking demonstrations
✔️ Interactive Q&A sessions
✔️ Group discussions for shared learning
✔️ Take-home slides, handouts, and healthy recipes

At Lakeside, we’re not just talking about health—we’re building a community around it. Because food is connection, and together, we can make wellness a way of life. Stay tuned for our in person workshop offerings.
