Finding Your Tribe in Menopause

BySarah Axtell, ND June 18, 2024

Let’s talk about finding your tribe. Or moai. In Japan they refer to it as a moai. Essentially it’s a social support network that gathers for common purposes. It’s the Japanese concept of connection.

I recently had someone reach out to do a private group visit with six of her friends to discuss perimenopause and how to address it naturally. I of course jumped at the opportunity. I’m a firm believer in finding and cultivating your tribe, especially when it comes to health.

But if you haven’t quite found your health “tribe” or “moai,” we’ve got you covered with our group visits.

About a year ago, I launched my first group medical visit: Perimenopause/Menopause Group Visit. Since then I’ve developed and led a Metabolic Reset Group visit and Osteoporosis Group Visit.

Through these group medical visit offerings, I’ve witnessed firsthand how lifestyle changes and health flourish when nurtured within the embrace of a supportive community. I see patients getting results after just one month of the group visit program thanks to the accountability and support of the group. One woman lost 8 lbs in a month; another woman reported complete cessation of hot flashes; and another finally started sleeping thanks to the encouragement of the group to minimize sugar and alcohol.

A battery of scientific evidence shows that if you want success in changing something, you should meet with groups of people doing the same. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.

We laugh, we share, we cook, we connect, we learn. It’s been my pleasure to launch and lead these group visits over the past year. I hope you will consider joining!
